High efficiency carbon capture for underground highways, building ventilation systems. |
Commodity-from-waste,
IEC Systems trap oxides of carbon to form products - carbonate to safely use or store. |
IEC actively resolves industrial problems in gases, chemicals, and air. |
I. Primary Technology & Application
Specialized Tunnel Pollution Control - Carbon Monoxide / Carbon Dioxide Filters
- Filters Designed to Fit-in with Traditional Tunnel Ventilation Systems;
- Patented Capability Eliminates Oxides of Carbon;
- 30-Years Particle / Molecular Control in Gases, Chemicals, Cleanrooms;
- Work in Collaboration with CTA and Camfil Farr.
IEC New Company New Product
- Tunnel Combustion Waste Filtered to Acceptable Limits;
- Capture Efficiency 50% @ 10 m/s - 30% @ High Velocity;
- Carbon Oxides Absorbed / Sealed air-tight for Storage / Recovery / Reuse;
- U.S. Patent Issued, 3 pending;
- Share New IP with Collaborators.
Land Transport Authorities - New Tunnel Ventilation Challenge
- Air Safety Application for Large Traffic Volume Longitudinal Ventilation;
- All-Vehicular-Type-Upgrade - For CO, CO2 Treatment Centers;
- Establish / Meet New Industry Standards for Clean Tunnel Air.
Currently, there are no CO, CO2 collection efforts active in any tunnel world-wide.
Traditional Concepts Implemented for Modern Tunnels
- Street-Air Exchangers via Ceiling Fans;
- Intermittent Vent Shafts;
- Particulate Aerosol Attractors (Electrostatic);
- Hydrocarbon traps;
- More recently, carbon-based NOx filter mechanism developed by Camfil Farr with CTA for Tunnel De Sol, Madrid (see: cta.no/efficiency.html, Norway and filter manufacturer, camfilfarr.com, Sweden).
No Carbon capture, but the above are commendable efforts improving tunnel air quality.
IEC Design for Additional Quality
- Collaborate for Layout / Test / Build / Install / Maintenance;
- Mandatory Carbon Capture - New Tunnels - China;
- Agreement to Protect Intellectual Property;
- Dry Absorbent Prototype Designed / Needs Final-Test - Filter Lab;
- Integrate Dry Absorbent Units with Traditional Ventilation Systems;
- Commission / NDIR w/data logger pre & post New Filters.
Advantages
- Filter Reaction Product - Solid Carbonate - This is a Negotiable Commodity, CaCO3 or K2CO3;
- Reactants / Products: K2CO3 + 1.5H2O + CO2 <--> 2KHCO3 + 0.5H2O + heat*;
- Filter-Yield: Dry, Solid, White, Chunks Sealed air-tight into Drums - For Sale;
- Quantity Significant, mol CO2 2.5 to 3.5 / mol K2CO3 (Ebune G. 2008)*;
- Estimate Tonnes Per Annum Carbon Dioxide Locked into Carbonate;
- Emission Credits - Reduction Allowance;
- Simplified Assessment - Monitor, Record, Verify, Quantity ' Saved ';
- 1 Ton Carbon ' Saved ' (China), Equivalent 1 Ton Carbon ' saved ' (Oslo);
- Re-Chargeable, Re-Usable Filter Containers.
