Filter Variations

IEC filters are varied with flexible designs and shapes. They are stationary and dry, or some have contents in a watery medium. Others revolve or spin by the shear force of exhaust having the advantage of large particulate removal tangent to the rotation. Smaller aerosol throughput gives greater filter chamber mixing after the gasses leave the filter rotor region.

The mixed gases meet KOH and H2O in a chamber of high relative humidity (RH), intrinsic to the gases involved or added if not, by design.

It is well known CO2 slowly dissolves in water. Our systems force CO2 to rapidly dissolve by the addition of carefully chosen Group IA and IIA metal hydroxides which create a water-base catalyst.

Another problem we address involves the fact that the available KOH provided, quickly becomes saturated by newly formed surface molecules of KHCO3 and are soon overwhelmed by the endless avalanche of CO2.

We solve this problem by treating our structured filters in a manner that allows the surface reactants to dissolve in water while leaving underlying layers exposed for additional CO2 capture in a flow-by reaction.

A further useful application of this technology is described wherein the rinse water is treated with calcium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide to form useful products: carbonate paste for algae farms, carbonate solids, or carbonate-aggregate mineral products. We also mention bi-carbonate production as well as building materials for land and marine applications. Cremation memorials of carbonate are also visions of value.

Essentially, our structured filter designs transition order from the abandoned and disordered waste produced all around us.

Instead of running waste through a pipe and hope for the best, we offer a non-kinetic alternative and safe reaction for combustion species from dangerous gas streams before they are vented to the atmosphere.
